Youth Protection Training

Youth Protection Training (YPT) is required annually for all registered leaders, but you do not have to be a registered member of the Boy Scouts of America to take Youth Protection training.

To take Youth Protection training go to My.Scouting.org and create an account. You’ll receive an email notification with your account information, including a member ID/reference number.

Take the Mandatory course not the Recommended course. Upon completion, you may print a training certificate to submit with a volunteer application. Your training will automatically be updated in our system and associated with the member ID/reference number issued when you created the account.

If you suspect that an incident may have occurred the Scouts First Helpline is available 24/7 at 1-844-SCOUTS1

During normal business hours the Baltimore Area Council Scout Service Center is available at 443-573-2500

Once you log into my.scouting.org there is a direct link to YPT on the right.

Select the Youth Protection Training Mandatory Training (Required) - Youth Protection Training - Mandatory v2.

The "Recommended (Optional) Learning Plan further down on the page is largely the same and does NOT meet the YPT requirement.

All four items need to be completed to meet the YPT requirement. This typically takes about half an hour per item.
